   Because keyboards cover piano, midi, synthesizers and much more..

   piano is just a basic instrument..

   I’m guessing it’s supply and demand. There’s a lot of piano teachers out there, but not a lot of people professionally trained in using all the different aspects of keyboards, like different voicings, sampling, loops, and all that fun stuff.

   How expensive? The professors at my school will charge over $200/hr for private lessons in piano.
