Where can I get a comparison on electronic keyboards? Like is this a good one ? Model: DGX520?
December 7th, 2009I need a resource like Consumer reports (dont know if they review electronic keyboards). to Tell me if this one from Yamaha (they typically are good stuff).. Model: DGX520 –for $600 @ Best Buy.
What is the next best thing?
Is this a good value or can I buy one better elsewhere online?
Or should I go one down …cuz it’s no big diff?
Thank you!
The DGX series from Yamaha are keyboards with 88 keys (same as a piano). You won’t get a full range of notes with anything less than 88 keys. Hammer action means that the note will sound louder if you press on it harder. Again, like a piano. A friend of mine owns a DGX; I’ve played on it before, and the sound is quite nice. In short, the DGX series is top of the line.
If you’re a beginner, and not sure if you’ll stick with piano, I’d get something cheaper. A good one is the Yamaha DGX-205, with 76 keys.

You may also want to try eBay. I’ve bought musical instruments there before, and they came in perfect condition.
